Phoenix Restaurant

Phoenix Restaurant is just another one of the typical Chinese cafes. It has three locations and I went to the Bayview one.

I ordered a stir fry udon, while he ordered a baked pork rice dish.

The food was good, and the portions were big for the price tag. We both finished our meals, but barely haha. I have no complaints about this place and will probably be back again soon.

Wahlburgers

So happy I finally got a chance to try this place out after hearing about it for quite some time now. For a Friday evening, Wahlburgers (@WahlburgersCA) was not as busy as I imagined it to be. For a table of two, we only had to wait for about 15 minutes - yay!

This gave us enough time to look over the menu and decide what we wanted to order.

Hi Mark!

And here is what we got...

D ordered the Our Burger.

This was Paul's Choice on the menu, and these are their classic burgers. They are topped with Paul's signature Wahl sauce, dill pickles, government cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion.

I orderd the BBQ Bacon Burger, Donnie's choice.

This burger consisted of spiced up weekend bbq beef patty on a bun, topped with white cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, fresh jalapenos & BBQ sauce.

We also got two sides, sweet potato tots and onion rings.

Despite reading so many bad reviews, I loved this place! The burgers were just...wow. So good. I am normally not a fan of burgers (because I don't like using my hands to eat lol) but for these, I wouldn't mind. On my BBQ Burger, I had just enough of everything on it - the sauce, the meat, the spicy kick from the jalapenos. D devoured his burger so fast I didn't even see him eat it in a progressive manner. It was there, and then it was gone.
The onion rings were good, but too thin for my liking. It made me feel like I was eating fried batter (but we were warned about this before we ordered them). The sweet potato tots were alright, nothing special.
The burgers though.... I will definitely come back and try another one of their burgers - maybe their burger of the month, if it looks as good as this one.

Santo's Italian Cuisine

I love Italian cuisine, and so do my parents. My mom came here with a couple of her friends and loved it, so she brought my dad and I here to give it a try. As sad as this is, I don't think I've ever eaten at an Italian restaurant uptown lol since I mainly have Asian food.

We started off with complimentary bruschetta (toasted calabreze baguette with fresh tomato, basil, and parmigiano cheese), as the waiter found out it was my birthday (lol this is a super belated post, oops). It was sooo good!

I decided on my all-time favourite, penne alla vodka.

My dad ordered a set meal of the bistecca alla griglia, which was an 8 oz steak with a side of pasta with their home-made tomato basil sauce. Yes, this was their 'side of pasta' - such generous portions ._. no one is complaining here.

My mom ordered the penne al salmone affumicatto (penne with smoked salmon in rose vodka sauce).

Yummmmmmm. I don't think I've ever been so full lol I got sick of my food since they gave us such big portions. We each had to get a box for our leftovers (yay for lunch tomorrow!)

For dessert, yes we still got dessert haha, we ordered a slice of their decadent chocolate cake and tiramisu.

Absolutely unreal. I am so happy my mom found this place!! All three of our pastas were so good, with generous portions (unlike a lot of restaurants downtown). The service was great, and the desserts were also bomb. I can't wait to come back here!

Schwartz's

Smoked. Meat. Goodness. <3_<3

On our way home from Tremblant, we decided to stop by Schwartz's for lunch. As there was a line up to eat at the diner, we decided to just get take out and eat there instead. I wish we didn't though because the portions were half the size! Except.. I couldn't even finish mine hahaha so I guess that was for the better.

We each got a smoked meat sandwich (and one to-go), and we ordered some smoked meat poutines to share.

Wowwwww.

It was absolutely delicious. I've heard that this a must-try in Montreal but I didn't think it'd be so good! I've never had smoked meat before (at least I don't think / can't remember) but it was so good. I also don't really like mustard but some reason, you had to have mustard on this.

:9

This has definitely convinced me to visit Montreal just for the food.
Until next time!

UNICEF #TapProject

The UNICEF TapProject (@unicefusa) is back!

Copied from their website, millions of children around the globe do not have safe, clean water to drink, and the lack of this basic necessity isn't just inconvenient — it's lethal. Take the challenge on your cell phone by clicking here - the longer you go without touching your smartphone, the more clean water will be unlocked for children in need.

In a world where we are all glued to our phones, checking for the latest text message and notification of who liked our last Instagram pic, this challenge is remarkably hard. I know because I could only go 51 minutes and I had to check my phone haha (how sad, I know).

What are you doing about it?
