Melbourne, pronounced 'mel-bern', is the capital of Victoria, and is one of the most populated cities in Australia. It's known to being the 'culture' or 'artistic' city of Australia, as it does have many art galleries and exhibition buildings. Melbourne is also home to the Melbourne Cricket Ground - the 10th largest stadium in the world & largest in Australia. But besides all the cool things Melbourne has, food is definitely a priority. What I didn't realize about Melbourne is that there are little pockets of towns within this big city. Our favourites were the downtown CBD core, Carlton, and Fitroy - so without further adieu, here are 5 bites of Melbourne featuring some of my fave spots!

Breakfast - Big Breakfast Combo at Tropicana
Enjoy the Big Breakfast at this cute sidewalk breakfast spot, Tropicana Juice Bar. It comes with two poached eggs on toast, with bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and a delicious hashbrown. Turn it into a combo and get a coffee + smoothie as well! For $19.50, this is the best way to start off your day!
Even if you're full from breakfast, grab a coffee to go from Federal Coffee Palace (across the street from Tropicana). Not only is it good coffee, it is located in this super cute alleyway that reminded of Europe! You can have the coffee in-house, but I'd recommend to get it to go so you can walk around and explore the city with it in hand.
Lunch - Carb it Up at TiAmo
Serving up some of the best variation of carbs for over 40 yeras, TiAmo was definitely one of our fave little stops here in the Carlton area. We walked by a bunch of restaurants prior to stumbling across TiAmo and am so happy we decided to stop and wait in line here for a table. They have a restaurant, a large patio area, and also a bistro for take out. V chill vibes and v delicious pasta.
Snack Time - Best Ice Cream in the City
You can't go wrong with ice cream, amirite?! Pidapipó has a number of locations around the city, but I went to the one in Carlton. It was next to TiAmo, which makes it the perfect spot to go after having a meal. There is always a line and lots of people standing around outside or sitting down to enjoy their ice cream. It really reminded me of Bang Bang back in Toronto!
Did you know that Melbourne has the largest Greek population outside of Greece? I had no idea until I was doing research of what to eat in the city! We stumbled upon this Greek restaurant by chance and loved it so much, we had it twice during the 4 days we were there. Definitely get the chicken platter, and 100% pay extra to get some of their homemade tzatziki sauce. SO good. Another plus was that you can bring your own bottle of wine and the corkage fee is only $5 per bottle! Anotherrrrr plus is that this spot is open 24/7 aka amazing for drunk food LOL.
Enjoy!
