7 Steps to Get Ready for the Holidays

It’s the most, wonderful time, of the yeeaaarrrrrr!

I’m a huge fan of the holidays – all things sparkly and cheerful. Plus, it is also the perfect excuse to get together with everyone! I love all the family gatherings and 'friendsmas' parties, but I have to be honest with you... it does get really tiring - the doing of the hair, the make-up, prepping my skin for the cold - especially if there are back-to-back parties! It has taken me a little while, but I think I've got it all down to 7 fool-proof steps to get ready for the holidays. You're welcome ;)

Lash Extensions

Okay, so if you follow me on Instagram, you'd know that I've had lash extensions for almost a year now from Debbie. And it is hands down THE best thing that I've ever decided to do on a monthly basis. I mainly started getting it for my vacations, as it helps cut down on SO much time in the washroom when all I want to do is get out and explore. But um, it didn't click to me until I attended my work Christmas party last weekend that it could be the smartest appointment you'll make this holiday season!

Lip Sleeping Mask

A good friend of mine visited Korea over the summer, and brought me back the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for my dry lips and I am o b s e s s e d. My favourite way to keep my lips moisturized is by putting Laneige’s Lip bedtime mask every day before sleeping. It has a lip balm like texture, and is meant to be layered on overnight. The balm locks in moisture and helps reduce flakiness and fine lines in your lips, which is so so key during the holidays. It’ll help keep your dark red holiday lip colour poppin’!


Shower with Olay

Speaking of dryness, winter is HERE. With winter coming at us in full force (since it’s December now, womp womp), our skin takes one of the biggest hits. I used to always get nervous around the holidays because I’d be scared to wear anything other than long sleeved shirts and pants. But ever since discovering Olay Ribbons Body Wash earlier this year, I have continued to use it into the winter. Dry Shampoo

We all know that you aren't supposed to wash your hair every single day, as it strips the natural oils on your scalp away. But what happens if you have back-to-back parties, and need your hair to look nice and fresh even after one too many drinks the night before? Introducing dry shampoo. This is the easiest fix to my hair by faaaarrrrrr. I love how easy it is to use, and that it works immediately. Not only does it take the shiny, oily parts of your hair away, it actually increases the volume of your hair as well!


Jade Roller

My next tip is to roll your face with a jade roller. This is also something new that I've discovered earlier this year. It's said to decrease puffiness and under-eye circles, and even minimize the look of fine lines through the motion of pressing the roller all over your face to increase circulation. I personally cannot tell you whether it actually does the above, because it's so hard to tell just by looking at your face. But I can tell you that every time I use it, it feels amazinggg on my face & under my eyes. It helps wake me up and my eyes aren't as tired and loopy-feeling when I get up in the mornings now haha. A win in my books!

Lemon Water

And while you're doing all of the above, have a mug of lemon water while you're at it - even better, if you drink it right when you wake up! Lemons are a rich source of vitamin C and helps boost your immune system. By drinking it first thing in the morning, it also increases the body’s metabolic rate & sets the tone for your body for the rest of the day. And I’m also going to share a lemon water life-hack with you: Freeze lemon juice. I found that by eliminating the extra step of cutting & squeezing the lemon into a cup, I was more inclined to drink lemon water in the morning. Plopping a lemon juice cube into a cup of hot water is the easiest thing you can do for yourself in the morning. It’s the little time-saving hacks that really count!! Life-changing, right?


Me Time

With everything going on in December, this is a reminder you probably didn't think you needed. We might be right in the middle of holiday season and your calendar is going to start getting full (if it isn’t already), but remember that me time is the best time. Schedule some time out of your calendar to re-group at home from all the social events. You'll thank yourself later!
